Spring start at the NYBG

Posted on Thursday 11 March 2010

The Orchid Show, Cuba in Flower, at the New York Botanical Garden is nothing short of exquisite. An hour and twenty minutes from Millbrook and absolutely worth it for those of us needing some color in March. I still miss the IES greenhouse and having the colors and scents only minutes from the house in winter, but this filled a void and was extraordinary. Also, gardening certificate courses by the NYBG at many locations, including Bard. www.nybg.org. Please let me know if you’d like to carpool midweek.

The Village of Millbrook is taking letters of interest for the Planning Board. As a homeowner in the village, I personally would like to see Hester Weeden reinstated, should she again wish to gift the village her service, knowledge, clear thinking and ability to interpret codes. If not Hester, perhaps someone else with an unbiased mind, a focused vision for the village and someone whose decisions do not create lawsuits by going against NYS law.

Clothes Swap – how about next weekend? Please let me know if you’re interested. We’ll include housewares this time around.
